Monthly Treeverse Update #2
The second edition of monthly Treeverse updates. Read below for some game development insights on what we’ve worked on in the last month.
An update on Treeverse. A look at our development and art team progress. We will be posting monthly for you to follow along the development of Treeverse, so make sure you subscribe!
Our last update was in December 2021. It’s now the new year, and arguably going to be the most important year for Endless Clouds as we are aiming for Treeverse to be released at the end of this year. The team took a break for New Years and started working the first week of January, so monthly updates will carry on from here. Also, Endless Clouds now has an official logo!
Music Theme
Here is our first theme song. Keep in mind we aren’t set on if this will even be in the game in the future. But this is a great example of the style and vibe we are going for. Substack doesn’t allow us to implement videos so check it out on our Twitter, read the article while you listen!
Concept Art Update
The lore of Treeverse is something we have been working on for a while, it’s where all the art will derive from, and it truly creates the experience for many players. From characters to monsters, to the environment and much more. We’ve started exploring more of the world alongside art direction.
Here is an explanation from our Art Director:
“After our art directional shift to a more graphical but colourful style, we continued with development to try and establish the world setting of Treeverse. With our concept artists, we started exploring what the world of Treeverse would look like. Such as the mood, what the people living there may look like, and what their story could be when they head out for an adventure. Here you will see some initial sketches for male and female characters, and an initial mood sketch for the world of Treeverse.
We are also working hard to test out our art in our Unity engine, as well as fleshing out the main lore in detail. Please note since we are still in the early exploration stages, many of the things are still subject to change.”

Engineering Update
We've continued working on the game core and unity client. Adding various features, solidifying the code base, and exploring new ways of working more effectively as an engineering team.
Below is a brief summary of some things we have achieved.
Implementation of a basic collision detection system
Implementation of basic skill based activities; chopping a tree, mining a rock
Implemented basic attack behaviour
Implementation of basic melee and range NPCs
Implementation of dungeons and world switching
Added addressable - Allowing for updates downloaded directly via the application itself
Implementation an editor tool - properties of a player can be modified in real-time by designers to prototype faster
Implemented neighbourhood management system on client side and boosted performance of collision detections
Created a mock implementation of the game core, allowing for isolation of client which can be useful for isolating bugs in the future
Training and source code guiding to enable the developers to work in parallel on game features
Treasury
We increased our stable coin position from $6.1m to $8.1m before the market dumped, and still have significant Ethereum holdings. The team will continue building regardless of the market fluctuations and the crypto market movements. Treeverse has a bright future ahead!
New Team Members
We have added some more team members in our Taiwan Branch. Some will be joining shortly after the Chinese New Year Celebrations and others in early March.
2 Concept Artists
1 3D Artist
1 VFX artist
1 UI/UX Artist
1 Technical Artist
1 Game Designer
1 Secretary
1 Developer (micro services)
We’ve also hired some more contractors to help out with game design.
Timeless and NFTrees
Many of you are interested in the 3D models for timeless and NFTrees. We will begin working on them once our art direction has been set. This will ensure that they fit into the world of Treeverse and are centred around our art instead of conflicting with it.
Going Forward
We expect that the upcoming months will be largely prototyping, rapid implementation of features and heavy testing until we are happy with the feel of the gameplay and the systems we have created. This is the only way to ascertain that a good game has been built; via rapid prototyping and play testing using placeholder assets and even simple geometric shapes. The developers will primarily work on game design tools and systems that can be used by the game designers and the rest of the team to rapidly iterate on many different game designs and gameplay until we know we have created a fun, interesting and worthwhile experience for our players. Once our art direction and core gameplay elements are decided, we will begin mass production of assets via heavy outsourcing and working with other art studios.
