Monthly Treeverse Update #25
The twenty-fifth edition of monthly Treeverse updates. Read below for some game development insights on what we’ve worked on in the last month.

The end of 2023, moving into the start of 2024. What a year! Jumping straight into it, we’ve announced the application form to apply for the Treeverse developer build. Use this link to apply and check out the post. Official dates will be announced soon.
2023 has honestly been a year where every monthly update outshines the previous one. It’s now gotten to the stage where you will just see gameplay, play it; experience it for yourself.
*Psst—Wanted to get complete sound for this update as a BANGING release, but you will have to wait a few days as we finalize implementation!

Art Update

The art team has slowly moved into a full-on content production mode, going forward this will likely be the case for more of the future updates, which we expect to be more simple content sharing, here are some of the work made this month!

New Features
New saving system
we previously had a completely hard coded saving system, its a lot smarter now and saves in batches
Also includes a logging system to track changes
Decouple ability ranges from movement ranges in an ability
Timeline / Animation based camera shakes
VSFX implementation
Material switching, flash effects, camera effects and spawning emitters
Audio implementation
We have written the base audio implementation for the game. It’s still early and primitive, but will continue to be worked on
Character Creation re implementation
Using the new saving system now
Release Early System
When you die, you enter last stand mode. You can now release last stand early
Destruction after death
Monsters used to hang around forever when they died, they get cleaned up now
Add Level Locks to Dungeons
Prevent players entering dungeons without sufficient level
Experience Bar
You can view your experience bar and track your progress now
Improve UI for learning new blueprint
Improve UI for receiving and selling items
Ability Cancel area
Can now cancel your ability
Improve UI tooltips
Various UIs now have tooltips to view information about the items
Interactable Icons
Billboards appear on top of the nearest interactable thing now
Click on players to invite them to party
Add rotation to inventory preview
Minimap system
Previously just had a separate camera looking down on player, now we have a real minimap with markers
Add quest markers
Scene Music Implementation
When you enter new scene, you can now play music
Fixes
Crowd Control Effect Fixes
Hit Stop Fix
Fix bug when knockback wouldn’t apply properly to monsters that run at you
Fix NPC interactions
Fix connection issues
Fix level up missing issues
Addressables corruption fix
Fix scene relevancy issues
Fix null component issue in builds
Fix damage calculation stats
Changed the formula for calculating damage
Update potion usage
Fix rotation issues near interactables/gatherables
Message logs now queue via RPC on clients
Going Forward
Simply put, 2024 is the year we are going into mass production. 2023 was the year of setting up the base, and we’ve accomplished just that. You will be able to see it in the developer build. We are excited to get feedback from our community with real playable builds out!
