Monthly Treeverse Update #28
The twenty-eighth edition of monthly Treeverse updates. Read more for game development insights.
An update on Treeverse. A look at our development and art team progress. We will be posting monthly for you to follow along the development of Treeverse, so make sure you subscribe!
We sent out our last 2 waves of dev build invites to a few hundred people in March. It’s been amazing having people within the game experiencing the vibe of Treeverse, albeit limited content available. Rest assured if you weren’t invited to this build, in 2024 we will have more constant ones featuring new content each time.
And, without promising anything, the next big build this year will be available for all holders with an exciting prize pool!
We also raised another $1.75M giving us more capital to build out Treeverse.
Also in April, we will be launching our plushies for $75 ft. Baafi & Golden Tree, don’t miss out on them! No plans anytime soon to create more official physical Treeverse items.

Worth noting behind every one of these images are dozens of more exploration.
Engineering And Design
by Aizea
The engineering team has been working on 90% refactoring and handling technical debt this month. We also worked on fixing some bugs in the dev build. With each new wave we manage to catch more, and are slowly working on fixing those as well. To provide some more detail on the ongoing refactors, we've completely revamped our core architecture for how items are handled in the game. This underpins how all other major systems in the game including inventory, transactions, looting, equipment, abilities and more.
We've experimented with a few ways and after trial and error have found a reasonable way of structuring things. The core of the items refactor has been achieved, and all the UI elements are slowly being migrated as well.
In Treeverse, abilities are tied to weapons, so changes to items also has provided us the opportunity to revamp the way we create abilities in the game. We're going with a timeline based approach, which should make things significantly easier than a graph based approach. We're leaning heavily into an entity based approach with our items, this means we always have the flexibility to add additional functionality and features on top of this in a manageable way.
We've got a pretty cool and extendible "usage" system with our items now. A generic system that allows items to have many effects. Items can also be multi-use. For example, a weapon that could be equipped, or even "consumed" to provide some buff or something like that. Currencies in-game have also been reworked - so we're free to add many types of spendable things in the game. This includes skill points and other things that will be part of our talent system that we hope to reintroduce in a future update.
Our crafting system is also being enhanced. Previously it was tightly coupled with the items in our game. It's been extracted into its own feature set now, and should allow us to have a more advanced crafting system. We're also working on upgrading our AI system. This will take some time, but we're working with a potential contracting partner, to bring in a very advanced Navmesh and pathfinding system.
At the same time, we're improving how easily AI in our game can be created from a designer perspective. We expect April to be very similar, before we start ramping up on new features once the major refactors have been done. We also have a fair but of upcoming research and development regarding handling users at scale. We can talk about those in a future update, once we've sorted out the fundamental core updates.
Going Forward
We say it every month, but this year a lot of exciting things will happen. Slowly but surely we are going to start sharing more lore-driven stories and art from the world of Treeverse. Get ready for even more immersion.
Alongside game production, Loopify is focusing on some important external things for the Endless Clouds ecosystem that will be shared at a later date.
